The World map interface is a large, scrolling map of the entire surface of Gielinor. On the map are the names of cities, towns, islands, kingdoms, mountains, caves, dungeons, rivers, lakes, and endless other geographic features every bit well as information icons for specific locations, buildings, and quest starting points.

To access the World Map, the "World Map" push button located on the Minimap must be clicked. Doing this will change the game screen into the World map view. World map view cannot be accessed during combat nor certain other activities. This version of the map is dynamic. Scrolling [edit | edit source]

On the 27 May 2009 Jagex released maps of many dungeons. Zooming [edit | edit source]

Zoom Control

The Zoom button is used for zooming the current World map view. To obtain a wider or a more detailed view, the map can be magnified appropriately. There are v zoom buttons available: 37%, 50%, 75%, 100% and 200%. The 100% zoom level corresponds to the zoom level of the role player's minimap.

The Cardinal button, basically shows icons describing specific locations within the map, and is located on the left-paw side on the Earth Map. When an entry in the Key list is clicked, yellowish circles will flash on the Earth Map. This shows where the edifice (or location) is located on the map.

Searching [edit | edit source]

The Search bar. To search for a location within the Earth map, the "Search bar" can used to blazon-in keywords. This is located at the bottom of the Earth map, next to the Key button. Every bit words are typed, suggested locations are displayed within the Search bar.

Minimap [edit | edit source]

The Overview push button, located on the far right-hand side, is used to testify a minimap showing the entire RuneScape world. The surface area shown on the World Map is highlighted in a ruddy foursquare.

Since the last mapping, new areas like the Cloak-and-dagger Pass have been added. Information technology also has the newest skill preparation areas, similar in the Tree Gnome Stronghold and the Barbarian Outpost, the latter of which is located near the Legends' Guild's electric current location.

Tutorial Island, the Mage Arena mine, the Duel Arena, and the area for the Big Chompy Bird Hunting quest were added. Because this map was based on an internal evolution build, information technology inadvertently leaked several areas not yet ingame, including Burthorpe and Silvarea.

On this appointment the globe map applet was released, which used a customized file that allowed parts of the map to remain subconscious. Since Jagex did not release an official map accompanying this update, an unofficial version was compiled past users. Finally, two upcoming updates were added: Castle Wars (due December 2004) and Slayer Tower (due Jan 2005).

In this map update Miscellania and Etceteria have been added to the Fremennik Province. Also, Ape Atoll and Crash Island appeared on the map. Finally, as stated on the previous earth map version, Castle Wars opened its doors.

In this update, Mort'ton got two green fields of the same size equally the boondocks south and e of it. These would later change to Burgh de Rott and Barrows. Slayer Tower was opened to public. Also, Karamja gained its dungeon filled with dragons and other monsters.

Morytania expanded further to the east: Fenkenstrain's Castle and Port Phasmatys have been congenital there and a graveyard has been added just south of the Haunted Woods. The H.A.Thou. founded their organisation near Lumbridge, and in the Kharidian Desert(gaining its proper noun this map update), the cities Sophanem and Menaphos have been added, with Sophanem existence a urban center with buildings, and Menaphos beingness a plainly surface area filled with sand. Because Jagex didn't release another world map for 5 months, in that location are a lot of changes. First of all Lletya opened to adventures, considering the Mourning's End Role I and Ii were released. North of Isafdar, an Outpost appeared. Also Waterbirth Isle, with its dangerous monsters, was added. Also some Teak and Mahogany copse grew near Tai Bwo Wannai. In Varrock, Queen Ellamaria created a garden for her ain, and everywhere through Gielinor Rat Pits appeared. The Mage Training Arena was besides restored from the remains the Fremenniks left. S from Thurgo's Peninsula, the Mudskipper Betoken rose from the bounding main. Furthermore, there were three unexplained disappearances.
